Chocolate and pistachio covered figs

1 dark chocolate bar (100 g), preferably Fairtrade, 80% cacao
2 teaspoons hazelnut butter
a pinch of cinnamon
a pinch of chilli powder
a pinch of whole sea salt
8 fresh figs, ripe but firm, washed and pat dried with kitchen paper
2 handfuls unsalted pistachios, shells and skins removed, very coarsely chopped

Chocolate and pistachio covered figs

First, break the choicolate bar and melt it in a bain-marie (or double boiler), over low heat, stirring as it melts. When the chocolate is melted, add the hazelnut butter, cinnamon, chilli and salt and mix thoroughly. Transfer the chocolate in a cup and start dipping the figs, holding them by the stems. Cover with the chopped pistachios and place the figs on a sheet of parchment paper on a tray. Refrigerate for 30-40 minutes and enjoy. They can be stored in the fridge for up to 1 day.

I saw these on Foodgawker and was enthralled. I made them for a party last night, and they were fabulous. The host said they were the best things he’s ever had. Ever. And he knows food. I’d love to make these with miniature pears someday. . .
Thank you

Thanks Laura!

Edie, that’s great! Thanks a lot for letting me know. Pears and chocolate are always a great combination.

I love your blog…….I just discovered it!

I would like to make these figs, however, not sure what hazelnut butter is?
Is it something you made? or purchased?
Thanks in advance,

Hi Stacey. Hazelnut butter is just a dense, rich paste of ground hazelnuts. You can find it at the Whole Foods Market or other health/organic foods store. Thanks a lot for visiting, and do come back. Ciao
